Stefano Russo bases his work on the human being, the human body and in particular on the processes of perception. His research begins from the eye, principal sense organ. As a versatile artist and designer, Stefano adopts diverse languages spacing from photography to sculptures and installations.
He dedicates himself to the creation of instruments to enhance the senses, to be lived or worn. Every object becomes a symbol; a metaphor of reflexion for a continuous evolution.

Experimental researcher of new environmentally sustainable materials, nanotechnology and renewable energy, whilst respecting the human being and the planet. Thanks to the principles of quantum physics and the laws of natural energy, he has succeeded to establish a new relationship of oneness between objects and man.

Stefano Russo currently lives between Milan and Paris, collaborating with some of the most prestigious brands, companies and cultural associations of the international scenario.
He has also been a lecturer in research laboratories at the Politecnico University of Milan, IED and Domus Academy.


In 1992, Stefano collaborates with the artist Arman, disassembling his musical instruments in order to create unusual jewel-sculptures that became a limited and numbered edition destined to the most prestigious art galleries.

From 1992 to 1994, Stefano designs jewellery for Favero and Gemma Gioielli, winning the Diamond Award competition with the “Vortex” diamond ring in 1993.

In 1993, he exhibits “Alzata Onda”, a silver artwork at Palazzo Bagatti Valsecchi.

In 1994 he founds his studio Russo Design; a research and design studio in the eyewear, jewellery and horology sector which also extends to artistic areas such as photography, art installations, interior objects and multisensorial-interactive creations.

Between 1997 and 1999, Stefano collaborates with Swatch, whilst in 1999 he works on the launch of Celine and Loewe eyewear.

From 2000 to 2008 Stefano works as the Eyewear Creative Director for Prada, Miu Miu and Linea Rossa. During his work experience Stefano will also work with Helmut Lang e Jil Sander.

In 2001 he presents the project “Sogno e Volo” at the cultural association “Spazio Consolo associazione culturale Countdown”.

In 2003, he lauches Emporio Armani Jewellery, which he has designed until 2014.

In 2006, he exhibits the “Rotazione e Visori” for Visionnaire, Fuori Salone e Miart project, at Rotonda della Besana in Milan.

In 2007, with his studio's “Area Lab”, he projects the interiors of “Serene”, a luxury submarine for GSE in collaboration with Victoria Johannes Santi.

In 2011, he exhibits “Electromagnetic Transmutation”; recycled materials and images then brought to the Officine Idee Verdi space.

In 2012, he launches the multisensorial project “Athomie”, and in 2013 he exhibits his own personal show “23 7 3 1” in Milan's Fondazione Stelline. Again in 2013, he exhibits in a collective exhibition “8 Variazioni per Stradivari” at the Civic Museum in Cremona.

In 2014, during the Salone del Mobile, Stefano presented “Riflessi d'Interno”, a project of brass artworks combining art, science and design.

In September 2014 at Risekult Exclusive Exhibition “From the Artbook to the Artbox”, he exhibited “Interfrequenza”. In October, during the Risekult’s choral project of contemporary art “Inside Out”, in Milan, he exhibited “I sette percettori”, from the project Riflessi d’interno.

Again in 2014, he exhibited a first extract of his project “Homo Mechanicus” at the Fabbrica del Vapore. In November the same year, he exhibited “Sintesi Percettiva” for Risekult in the collective exhibition “Into the Dark”, at the Chiostri di S.Barnaba, Umanitaria in Milan.

In 2015 he presented a solo show intitled “Pro Lumen Light Transmutation”, a journey into the light and the visual perception, through installations defined “Peceptive Weapons”, exposed in Spazio Tadini, in Milan, sponsored by Expo in Città.

2017-2019 Vida Project Sustainable housing modules, Ibiza.

2019, Receives the "Irene Brin" award from the Costume and Fashion Academy.

From 2008 he has been designing Louis Vuitton eyewear and works on special projects.
